The new brain research proves that yes, you can “Reprogram” your own brain. Scientific studies show that people who learn to manage their own thinking and begin to make choices in the moment that are in line with their intentions, can form new neuropathways in their own brains. And I can teach you how to do it, too!
I was working at UCLA’s Neuropsychiatric Institute when the first of this ground-breaking research was being done. But my job at NPI was not in a laboratory, but out in the field. I worked for the Epidemiological Catchment Project, funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH) to find out the incidence of mental illness in the population at large.
I interviewed hundreds and hundreds of “specific random respondents,” and asked them a battery of questions, so that researchers could determine the inter-relation between physical health and mental disease.
What I observed anecdotally was that it really didn’t matter what happened to a person. What really mattered was “how they reacted” to what happened. What was the “story” they told themselves? Were they the “victim” in their own story, or were they a hero?
I teach people to be empowered by “stories” of their lives and become heroes! You can’t control what happens to you, right? But you can learn to control how you react to what happens to you.
You will learn how to react to anger, fear and frustration, in a calm, controlled and compassionate way. And that will reprogram your brain to succeed.
